US Equities Decline, Nasdaq Leads Losses Amid Tech Sell-Off

Major US stock indices concluded the trading day lower, with the Nasdaq Composite experiencing the most significant decline.

The primary US equity indices finished the recent trading session in negative territory, with the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite index registering the largest percentage drop. This broader market movement is often reflected in the performance of CFD instruments tracking these indices, offering retail traders opportunities to speculate on either upward or downward price movements.

The Nasdaq Composite declined by 1.16%, or 302.47 points, and remained in negative territory throughout the entire session. Its highest point during the day was still below its opening value, indicating consistent selling pressure. Similarly, the S&P 500 index also traded negatively for the entire day, ultimately closing down 0.45%, or 33.67 points.

In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average initially showed strength, even reaching a new intraday all-time high of 53,294.33. However, these gains were not sustained, and the index reversed course to close lower by 131.01 points, or 0.25%, settling at 52,930.28. These intraday reversals can create volatility that forex and CFD traders often monitor closely.

A notable factor in the market's decline was the significant sell-off in semiconductor and artificial intelligence-related companies. Several prominent stocks in this sector experienced substantial losses, with Intel leading the declines among the listed companies. This sector-specific weakness contributed significantly to the overall negative performance of the broader technology index.
